State Fair 2011

Saturday we went to the State Fair.  It was crazy expensive but we wanted to go to make sure that Michael would be ok with the crowds and whether he liked the rides so we would be prepared for Disneyland.  The crowds didn't bother him but he didn't like some of the rides that he went on by himself.  That won't be a problem at Disney so I'm not worried.  For the most part he had fun.

Alexis & Jasmine

I recently started watching my cousin Hannah's two little girls.  Alexis is 21 months and Jasmine is 6 months.  It's really fun, sometimes stressful but mostly fun.  Michael LOVES these girls which is nice, although now he wants to lay in my arms like a baby and wants me to rock him, lol.  It's kind of funny but he's just too big to do that for very long.  It's been really nice to have little girls around the house.

These are not the best pictures of the girls but I'll get more I'm sure. :  )

Family Picnic

Last Sunday we had a family picnic on the Hughes side.  It was at Aunt Evelyn & Uncle Corks house.  The kids had a blast playing in the pool & they were my main source of entertainment.  It was so fun watching them all play, they all get along really well.  There wasn't a lot of people there this year but Aunt Annie came down from Seattle so that was nice.

Hip, heart, knees & back (sung in the tune of head, shoulders, knees & toes)

On August 1st my Mom had hip replacement surgery.  Thankfully everything went smoothly and she got to go home that Thursday.  On August 8th my Dad had open heart surgery and again thankfully everything went smoothly and he got to go home that Thursday.  They are both doing fine but they both have surgeries that they will need sometime after they recover.  Mom needs both ( I think ) knees replaced and my Dad will need back surgery eventually.  I'm sure it won't be easy for either one of them but they should both do fine.

Enchanted Forest

On July 31st we went to the Enchanted Forest for the day.  It was so much fun and such a better trip than last year.  What a difference a year makes (along with Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and preschool).  Last year Michael wouldn't even go near the rides but this year he rode almost of them.  The log ride was a little scary for him & he wasn't quite tall enough anyway.  He had so much fun and now we are SO excited to go to Disneyland, knowing he likes the rides.  He asks at least once a day to go back to the Enchanted Forest (he's asking right now since he's looking at the pics-lol) so hopefully we'll get a chance to go again before it closes for the year.

Blast from the past

Today I got together with childhood friends I haven't seen since high school.  We met at the Gilbert House and had lunch and played.  We were there for about 3 and a half hours which is by far the longest we've ever been there!  Michael usually breezes thru all the rooms fairly quickly since he goes there pretty regularly but Deb & Em's kids don't go very often so they stayed in every room for awhile.  Poor Michael was getting bored but he did pretty good at being patient.  It was great to see Debbie & Emily again.
